The St. Louis Cardinals are in talks with the Colorado Rockies about the possibility of a blockbuster trade centered around Nolan Arenado, according to a report.
While no deal is close and one source indicated such a trade "might not happen at all," The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal wrote, other sources "believe the Rockies are motivated to move Arenado and the Cardinals are motivated to acquire him."

The New York Yankees have traded reliever Adam Ottavino to the Boston Red Sox for a player to be named or cash.
New York was looking to reduce its luxury tax bill. They will send $850,000 to Boston to offset some of Ottavino's $8 million salary, according to a source.
This was just the second trade since 1987 between the rivals.
"I know it's the Yankees and I understand what that means and it's the most storied rivalry in sports," Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom said. "But if we're not willing to do something that helps us because it also helps them, or worse, if we're worried that it might not go as we expect and it blows up in our faces and we looked at it, well, then, we're just playing scared, and we're not going to play scared."

According to Jon Heyman of the MLB Network, the Reds informed teams that they now intend to hold onto Castillo, but they tested the waters for a potential trade.
